My glowing optimism was not enough for the dark, evil forces of the Orthopedic Center of Arlington. I went in hoping to have clear and direct answers about what to do with my recently injured knee. I had already done my own research and had been to a chiropractor (who referred me), so I was fairly familiar with the depths of my soon to be painful knee operation. I wasn't looking forward to the impending pain of surgery, especially the pain of not having insurance... Go ahead, judge me. They did at this clinic. Aren't they supposed to pretend you're a somewhat valid human being, despite being uninsured? Don't they teach that at medical school anymore? I didn't go there to schedule surgery, I went there for answers and guidance on what to do since the county hospital said it would be 2 months before I could even talk to a doctor. I went to this clinic with my MRI and x-rays in hand. Luckily, I reminded the Dr. Whittenburg to ACTUALLY READ the results and LOOK at my CD's from the MRI and x-ray, so that he could actually have answers to the questions he was asking me. Whew! Is it weird that I'm the one that informed him about the tears in my knee, when he had the report in his hand? That's common, right? I do have one good thing to say. The lady at the front, Yesenia, was a sweetheart and very helpful. The other staff was friendly enough, but she was the nicest to me.

My 80 year old(at the time) mother was admitted to the Arlington Medical Center last summer. She was in horrific pain. I was driving to Arlington to be with her and got a text from my cousin saying that the orthopedic surgeon had just come to see her,and that she would not be needing surgery. I arrived later that afternoon, and passed on to the nurses that I would like to speak to dr.whittenburg. ( Yes I know that I am deliberately not capitalizing). My mother had been in excruciating pain, and her diagnosis was Avascular Necrosis of the hip. I asked her nurses to please have this man call me,since I had no idea of the follow up plan. I started asking on Saturday, and I do realize that docs probably won't go out their way to get in touch with a family member on a weekend. Soooo,we were getting ready to transfer her to a Skilled Nursing facility across the strett on Wednesday of that week, and her nurse was finally able to get in contact with him. I was pretty surprised as well as angry when she came back to the room and told me that his offuce staff had told her that dr.whittenberg had already spoken to "the family",and didn't need to talk to anyone again. Well, yes he did speak to a family member,it was my cousin. She is a lawyer. I have power of attorney for her healthcare issues. I am pretty sure that this guy did not realize that my mom has some dementia, and in no way could explain what was going on. I am a retired RN. I worked in hospitals for42 years, and I do know that there are really great doctors, some are more average, and few are just plain rude and arrogant. Turns out my mom DID need a hip rwplacement and THANK GOD we found a wonderful surgeon (Dr.Dean in Fort Worth) and physically she is doing better. I wrote him a letter, and never had a response. I guess my real anger is that this man could not,and would not take 5 minutes of his precious time to speak to me. I just find it horrific that this guy just had zero compassion toward a woman that had recently lost her husband ( my dad) and was in excruciating pain that could only be treated with a hip replacement. I hope that if this happens to someone that he loves, especially if they are not able to speak up for themselves, that he will make sure that they will be happy to speak to him and keep him informed of their condition. I see that he has remarked about someone that left a review anonymously on this site. Well this is not anonymous. You had several opportunities to reach out to me,dr. I wish there was an option to leave zero stars.
